About the presenters
Jay is Director of Upstream Engineering at Mirantis. He manages a team of senior engineers working on developing OpenStack projects in the community. Before Mirantis, he worked at AT&T, focusing on OpenStack development and operations. Previously, he was a Director of Engineering in HP s Open Source Cloud Services team, a development manager and software engineer at Rackspace Cloud, a software engineer at Sun Microsystems and the North American Community Relations Manager at MySQL. Co-author of Pro MySQL (Apress, 2005), Jay has also written articles for Linux Magazine and regularly assists developers in identifying how to make the most effective use of MySQL and other software. He has given sessions on performance tuning at the MySQL Users Conference, RedHat Summit, NY PHP Conference, ZendCon, php-tek, OSCON, and Ohio LinuxFest, amongst others. He lives in Sarasota, Florida, with his wife, Julie, and his beloved dogs.
Elizabeth K. Joseph
Elizabeth K. Joseph is a Systems Engineer working for HPE as a core
and root member of the OpenStack project Infrastructure team. She has
been involved with a variety of open source communities since 2001 and
has spent the past decade working in various Linux systems engineering
Nick Chase is Sr. Manager of Technical Content at Mirantis and serves as editor-in-chief of the popular OpenStack:Now newsletter, which he created. He is also active in the OpenStack Documentation project. With 20+ years' experience as a developer and author, Nick has written several books and hundreds of articles as an IBM developerWorks Certified Master Author. He also founded NoTooMi.com and has done Web application development for companies such as Alcatel-Lucent, Sun Microsystems, Oracle, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
